If you’re planning a solo trip to Bantayan Island, you might be wondering:Where should I stay?

During my short getaway, I stayed at Kandugyap House by the Sea, and honestly… it was the perfect little escape. It wasn’t just about the view or the pool — it was the thoughtful details, the people, and the peaceful vibe that made it unforgettable.

How I Ended Up in Sta. Fe, Bantayan

I went to Sta. Fe, Bantayan just to breathe. I only had two days off, and I’m based in Cebu. My coworkers teased me,“You’ve been here for 11 months and you still haven’t explored the place?”

And they were right. I’d explored South Cebu, but this time, I wanted to check out the North.

Plus, I kept thinking — at any moment I could be sent back to Manila, so while I still had the chance, I just had to go.

I hopped on a Ceres bus, got off at the port, and decided to stay for one day. Simple rule for this trip: I just wanted to chill.

1. The gate is already a work of art & they offer shuttle service from the port too!

Before you even enter, you’ll notice the gate. If you appreciate artsy details like I do, this alone is a treat. It sets the tone for a stay that’s peaceful and thoughtfully designed.

I was picked up by a golf cart if I wasn't mistaken and it feels like a free tour of what their neighborhood looks like.

2. Complimentary breakfast makes mornings easier

When you stay here, breakfast is included — and yes, it’s rice! Small detail, but it makes mornings so much simpler. No stress about what to eat before starting your day.

3. Enjoy breakfast while watching the sunrise

You can request your breakfast to be served outside, and the view of the sunrise is unbeatable. Perfect start to a chill solo morning.

4. The staff are amazing photographers

The ates (staff) are super friendly and very good at taking photos. You won’t have to worry about capturing memories — they got you.

5. They might tour you around the property

If no one else is checking in at the family room, the ates are happy to give you a little tour of the property. Small gestures like this make a stay feel personal.

6. The place reflects the owner’s travels

I learned that the owner is an international pilot. You can see it in the design — little touches inspired by different places he’s been.

7. You might get the pool all to yourself

If you book during a non-peak season, you might just have the pool all to yourself. Total chill mode unlocked. I booked this in September.

8. A local showed me around Bantayan

Even though I didn’t plan to go out much, the housekeeper’s daughter toured me around nearby spots. Getting to explore with a local guide made the experience feel authentic and special.
